Know before you buy
Quick answers about the DCNM-MMDOCK, and how it compares.
How does the tablet connect to the DCNM-MMDOCK?
Install the DICENTIS Participant App on the tablet and connect it with the dock's USB-C cable: tablet and dock are then paired. The dock holds tablets from 10 to 14 inches and tilts from 0° to 120°. When not in use, the USB-C cable has its own parking space in the base.
On a perpetual system, each tablet using the app needs one DCNM-LPAPP-PE (one is included with the system). Professional plans include the app.
DCNM-MMDOCK or DCNM-MMFF: which multimedia seat should I choose?
| DCNM-MMDOCK | DCNM-MMFF | |
|---|---|---|
| Screen | Your own 10 to 14-inch tablet | Built-in 10-inch Android touchscreen (1200 x 1920) |
| On the screen | DICENTIS Participant App on the tablet | Agenda, documents, live video, internet, third-party and custom apps |
| Without the screen | All functions also on the base | Key functions on both screen and base |
| Screen angle | 0 to 120° | 0 to 180° |
| Microphones | 6 built-in MEMS microphones, plus a socket for a screw-lock microphone | |
| Identification | NFC reader with card slot | |
| Buttons | Haptic touch buttons with Braille indications | |
| Power (PoE+, 48 VDC) | 11 W, or 18 W when charging the tablet from the system | 18 W |
| Mounting | Tabletop or flush in the table | |
| Weight | 2.2 kg | 2.5 kg |
Choose the MMDOCK to use tablets you pick and replace yourself. Choose the MMFF for a ready, all-in-one seat with its own screen.
Does the DCNM-MMDOCK charge the tablet?
Yes, it fast-charges the tablet over USB-C when the base has local power from a USB-C charger of 15 W or more, PD3.0 or newer. Bosch highly recommends this: the base then draws 11 W from the system.
Without local power, the dock feeds the tablet from the system cable: 18 W in total, of which at most 7 W goes to the tablet. Some tablets need more than that.
What if a participant forgets the tablet, or its battery is flat?
The meeting goes on. Every function is also on the base, which has the microphone / request-to-speak button, mute or chairperson priority, haptic voting and language buttons, and the NFC reader with card slot.
Do DICENTIS discussion devices need a software license?
For the wired DICENTIS Conference System, basic discussion works without a license once the system is registered: request to speak, chairperson priority, dual use (two participants on one device), camera control and interpretation from the interpreter desk. These seat functions need a Premium or Ultimate license:
| Device | Works without a license | Needs Premium for |
|---|---|---|
| DCNM-D | Discussion, dual use, chairperson | Speech timer, response mode, agenda |
| DCNM-DE | Discussion, dual use, chairperson | NFC ID, voting and language on screen |
| DCNM-DSL | Discussion, dual use, chairperson | Language selection, NFC ID |
| DCNM-DVT | Discussion, chairperson | Voting buttons, NFC ID |
| DCNM-MMDOCK | Discussion, chairperson | NFC ID, voting, language selection |
| DCNM-MMFF | Discussion, chairperson | NFC ID, voting, language selection |
The DCNM-DVT voting buttons do not work without a Premium license.
Order one license per participant in the meeting (a dual use seat counts as two). Two ways to buy:
- Perpetual, pay once: Premium DCNM-LPP-PE or Ultimate DCNM-LPU-PE. The license is yours permanently. Software maintenance (updates) is included for the first year, then renewed yearly with DCNM-LPSMA-PE.
- Professional, pay yearly: the same Premium or Ultimate features, renewed every year. Software maintenance and the Participant App are included in the yearly fee.
DICENTIS Wireless (DCNM-WD / DCNM-WDE) works differently: it still uses per-seat licenses, such as DCNM-LSDU for dual use, DCNM-LSVT for voting and DCNM-LSID for identification.
Do I need a pluggable microphone?
No. Six built-in MEMS microphones can be the main meeting microphone or a backup. If you want a visible microphone, add a screw-lock one: DCNM-MICSC (short) or DCNM-MICLC (long) with a cardioid pattern, or DCNM-MICSWC / DCNM-MICLWC with a wide cardioid pattern. The 3.5 mm jack also takes headphones, an external microphone or a headset microphone.
What is the DICENTIS Participant App?
An Android app that turns a tablet into a DICENTIS seat. Participants can request to speak, vote, see the speaker list and results, register attendance, follow the agenda, read documents and watch live video and presentations.
A perpetual system includes one app user. Each extra user needs one DCNM-LPAPP-PE (up to 300). Professional plans include the app.
Can visually impaired participants use it?
Yes. The touch buttons for voting and language selection give haptic feedback, and Braille indications mark them. Indicators show when the microphone is on, when a request to speak is waiting, and when the participant may speak.
